You shouldn't use ';regular'; tanning lotions in tanning beds because they can damage the acrylics (clear panels you lie on) of the bed. You do need to use lotion because moisturized skin tans better than dry skin. Some salons will not let you ';dry'; (without lotion) tan. The lotions contain ingredients that promote a tan and moisturize your skin. You don't want to use a lotion containing an SPF. That's defeating the purpose of the tanning bed. If you don't want to buy your lotions at your salon, go to Sally's. You'll find some inexpensive lotions there. Also, check out eBay. Most of the lotion sellers on eBay are salon owners.

If you don't use a lotion, your skin will have that tanning bed smell--kinda like a burnt skin odor. Australian Gold produces lotions that contain ';body blush'; that smell good and ';prevent'; tanning bed skin odor.

After tanning, you need to keep your skin moisturized. It will help your tan last longer.
they tell you not to because it is not good for the machines. If you want to save money on indoor tanning lotions, search online for them they are much much cheaper than at the salons.
When i went tanning, i was told not to use regular tanning lotion.

there are more oils in the outside lotion. I guess they said that these oils get into like the tanning bed and messes it up and you burn easily because of the oils on the body. and because SPF keeps you from getting sun burnt and the lights aren't really ';the sun'; so i don't think it would be good to use lotion. I myself don't even use lotion. i just go tan
