Is it safe to get your hair dyed in a salon when you are 4 weeks pregnant?

No. It's not. A lot of people will tell you not to do it at all. Simple fact of the matter is that as long as it doesn't touch the scalp, and you do it AFTER you are in your second trimester, you are fine. The first trimester is crucial to be as careful as you can. This is when its easiest to miscarry, and also when all your baby's vital organs are developing. You wouldn't want to hinder that would you?

Also, if you're going to do it after the 2nd trimester, try to get an amonia free dye, and do it in a well ventilated area. Even smelling the chemicals can be bad.

Also, be advised. No matter how far along you are - in some pregnant women who color their hair, the color doesn't always hold or color evenly. If you're going to do it, wait a couple of months, and be advised. Good luck.Is it safe to get your hair dyed in a salon when you are 4 weeks pregnant?
hey hun,

First 12 weeks of babies development are the most important.

Some doctors do say its okay. But its not.

The full hair colour the chemicals are consumed onto your scalp into your body.

Highlights or foils are okay as they are placed. 1.5cm from the head approx and dont have any contacts with your scalp also, the fumes arent recommended either...

God Bless xx darling xx Just remember its all for baby xxIs it safe to get your hair dyed in a salon when you are 4 weeks pregnant?
Absolutely not, especially clairol hair color, it has a bad chemical in it and is one of the top 12 cancer causing household toxins. Don't do it to you or your baby.

Oh, and stay out of the salon, there's some bad stuff floating around in there too. Not good for you to inhale while you are pregant.
No your supposed to wait until after the second trimester, the first trimester is when the important neurological growth of the fetus is occuring putting th baby at higher risk of defects. When you do decide to dye ur hair it is also better to do highlights through the hair so less chemicals get absorbed into the body through the scalp.
No you might as well give it up now, it's bad for the baby so just get used to going natural.

Ask your doctor there might be a hair dye or two out there that's safe.

But personally I wouldn't risk doing anything that could hurt the baby.
Avoid dyes in your first trimester and science have tested the products and it doesn't affect the baby. try using henna, water based dyes. Google it ..i did i have dyed my hair 4 times my baby is fine.. Ask your doctor so that you feel safe.
Not during your first trimester, but when you do decide to dye your hair , pick a color that will stay on your scalp for the least amount of time.
I was told NOT to dye my hair because the chemicals are dangerous to the fetus.
you should avoid all hair dyes in the first trimester

Does a beautician or salon owner make alot of money?

My mother has owned her own salon and spa for 10 years - she absolutely loves it, but the money isn't always great..

January is a very slow time for business so it's hard to make ends meet...

right before back to school season is usually so swamped w/ business they are booked weeks in advance..

Then you have to worry about your chair rentals paying their rent on time..

And you have many expenses

She has five ppl working under her for chair rentals and a massage therapist - she probably makes around 50-70K per year roughlyDoes a beautician or salon owner make alot of money?

First of all you would need to have very good training like the kind you would get from Paul Mitchell Systems.

I can't blow dry my own bob for the life of me. Can I stop by a salon twice a week to have them do it?

and just make this a regular occurence? How much would it cost? It's worth it. My hair is fried from bleaching up from black to blonde, and I can't get the bob to lay straight, but the stylists can.I can't blow dry my own bob for the life of me. Can I stop by a salon twice a week to have them do it?
Well If you have the Money for that yea go ahead, But how about the Time ? The fact that you have had to ask the question is an indication that you may not be sure that it is worth it.

I would suggest practicing on it,

Perhaps some of these Videos on Bob styles and how they do it may help you

May I suggest that you go to a stylist and have them teach you how to do it and buy the products from them that they use. I bet anything the reason that it works when they do it is because the product they use. (it will be cheaper to buy the product then to have them do it twice a week)

Also, I have a friend who has unmanageable hair, she did what the others here said and bought a straightener. All it did was make her hair worse... Straighteners, by their nature of heating your hair to straighten it, will just damage your hair more.

Oh and you should also ask your stylist about a deep conditioning treatment, that might help.
I would take a serious break. Your fried hair will only get worse and worse with every blow dry.

Scrunching waves/curls with some mouse or gel when hair is wet. Let hair dry or use dryer with a diffuser a bit to get the some body!SEXY!

I recommend Sun Silk soft curl mouse.
Yes, most salons will blow dry it for you. The cost varies depending on how upscale the salon is. Usually 3 dollars is the norm.

If you are worried about your hair being fried, the blow drying is hard on it. Make sure the stylist puts a leave in conditioner in your hair before blow drying it.

Good luck!
Of course! It generally costs about $10-20 but if you make this a regular occurance you can get a favorite stylist and they will charge less as they get to know you.
Some salons might charge only 15$ to place your hair, that's the cheapest i've seen. But that would make like 120$ a month, mind as well invest in a good straightener for that price and then you wont need to blow dry hair well to make it straight.
How much would it cost????? It's worth it???? It's worth what exactly? What does it matter how much it will cost, since you already feel that ';it's worth it';, and well I just happen to have price lists for all the hair salons in the world don't I?
Buy a good straightner. Get a chi, they are pretty expensive but they are what most hair stylist use and they are awesome!!
Yes but techincally all you need is a huge round brush and a blowdryer.
get a personal stylist.
Of course if you pay them then they will.
haha im sure they wouldnt mind =]

it would probably cost from $15-$25 to blow dry it
Sure for a small fee.
go ahead and do it.
if you pay them they will
That's funny, I can't blow dry my bill!

Punk/edgy/emo/scene hair salons??

is there any1 out there that knows of a fairly common punk hair salon? i've looked eveywhere and there is no salon that'll do a scene cut! it's so annoying! names and/or websites would be fine.

xoTHANKSxoPunk/edgy/emo/scene hair salons??
Any hair salon can do this style for you... All you need is a picture (preferably from a hair style magazine because they show what the stylist needs to know). Most of the people you see with the punky/emo hair styles do them their selves.

Whether your hair is long or short, really short layers (2-3 inch) from the scalp are ideal. You can make them edgy and a little spikey with some hair wax. I find that using a razor when cutting/ getting your hair cut instead of scissors will give you more of the style your looking for. Also swoop bangs with dramatically shorter layers throughout them.

Hope this helps :)

** Hmmm... I cut my hair mostly myself but when I need color or something done with the length I go to Regis. Theyll do anything you want them to.Punk/edgy/emo/scene hair salons??
I haven't heard of a salon based of those hairstyles. usually all salons do different hair styles. just go to one and take a picture
i dont think there are hair salons that are mainly for scene/emo/punk haircuts. Pretty much all hair salons do it.

But, be sure to go to a hair stylist. Not somewhere like super cuts. My personal hair stylist does mine for me and it comes out better than if you go somewhere cheap. As long as you bring a picture in with a good shot of layers in it you should be fine. The hair stylist should be able to just do it for you.

Most people do there scene hair themselves but i totally understand where your coming from. I suck at cutting hair thats why i have a persol hairstylist. Its alot easier.

hope i helped.

=]
OMFG! man im same as you. I cant find a local salon that would cut my hear emo. it pisses me off. Please message me if you get an internet link to find on, thanks
pfft. unless you live in like rural farm land, everywhere will do a scene cut, first choice will give you one for 12.50 for god sakes. anywhere can do it, you just have to bring the pic, a decent salon can do whatever you like, they arent going to look at the pic and be like, omg we dont do that thing, sorry your going to have to leave, its not like that, and it usually turns out better if you DIY or have a friend help

Whats the fastest way to get a tan without a salon?

im a white girl and need a tan fast . but not a salon tan i have time to lay out a little bit but not alot . is there a way to get a nice tan at home/backyardWhats the fastest way to get a tan without a salon?
ok first of all, you want to exfoliate before you tan. it sloughs off the damaged old skin cells. Use a salt of a sugar scrub initially, then continue using like once a week. Second off, you want to keep your skin as moisturized as possible. Use a good facial moisturizer with an SPF in it. As soon as you step out of the shower, pat dry and use a good moisturizer like aveeno. If your skin is still slightly moist from the shower it locks in the lotion better. Third, use a low SPF (like 15 or under). Then apply tanning oil or lotion. Lay 30 minutes on one side, take a dip in the pool then 30 mins on the other side. When you are done tanning, DONT shower for two hours. Your skin cells are still voulnerable from the sun so let your skin cool down. Then shower and repeat!! Happy tanning!Whats the fastest way to get a tan without a salon?
there is this new self tanning spray or lotion that you put on. the first day i used it, i looked way tanner. Jergens Day glow. or any kind of self tan spray at a drug store will work!

**also you dont need to tan after the lotion. its a kind of sunless lotion that you evenly put on throughout your body and then put clothes on.**
Get a good tanning lotion and start laying out from 10am-1pm when the sun is it's hottest.. That will give you a tan... Though a salon will tan you faster... It will depend on how your skin naturally tans.. I tan in just a few tanning sessions... Your skin may be different....

Good luck and try NOT to BURN!
My sister got an Aztec tan, they are kinda pricy but they work, my sister looked AWSOME about 24 hours afterward, it look awsome. go there they shuld have one in your state, city or w/e lol

Do u think all the salons ...?

do u think all salons highlight ure hair purple or pink , and do u think this style looks kool

-purple highlites and emo-ish side bangs ??Do u think all the salons ...?
The salons will give you ideas on what colors that will look good on you, however if your set on a certain colors they will do what you want, providing your hair is in good condition to put the highlights in.......best of luck!!!!Do u think all the salons ...?
A professional hair stylist will highlite your hair the best color for you, depending on the health of your hair, and will only go by this rule, not what you, the client wants. What is emo?

Looking for Asian hair salon in Pittsburgh?

From the looks of friends who went to Supercuts and came back bald, apparently most hair salons don't know how to handle Asian hair. Please recommend one that does (all the better if you can provide address/phone/website). Thanks!Looking for Asian hair salon in Pittsburgh?
If you check the Pittsburgh craigslist in the ';free'; section, about every 4-5 weeks the Supercuts offers free haircuts at their training academy. I know your friends have had bad experiences there, but at the academy, there are supervisors there to make sure the students are cutting properly and that you are completely happy with your cut.

The academy is in Fox Chapel, across the road and past Waterworks Mall. You can take the 91A/Butler Street Bus to get there.

I get my hair cut there almost every time they have free haircuts and I've been really happy with the results. It might be worth giving it a try.

  • Tanning lotion at the Salon VS. Your own tanning lotion?

I know Tanning salons try to sell you their really expensive stuff, but do you have to use it? Like can I use my own stuff that I got at target that's tanner/sunblock in one?

What's the difference?Tanning lotion at the Salon VS. Your own tanning lotion?
what i do is find out what i want at the tanning salon and then buy it online for...no lie....half the price, check out ebay.Tanning lotion at the Salon VS. Your own tanning lotion?
I work at a tanning salon and the only reason we try to sell our products is because we know how they work and what is in them. The difference between our lotion and the cheap lotions at walmart is just that, its cheap! it does not work as well as other products. You really do get what you pay for. Plus the most important reason is a lot of the cheaper products ruin the acrylics on our beds. You can purchase a decent lotion at a salon without going over $40.
I always use my own stuff. I bought two bottles of LA Express tanning lotion at Ulta which have worked great as well as a basic Hawaiian Tropic tanning lotion from Rite Aid which is awesome. I always buy small sample sizes of their fancy stuff from my salon if I'm tanning in preparation for a special event because they will work faster, but they aren't needed every time.

Take care and have a great week!!
Ok the ones at like Target will not work the same as the ones at the salon. Plus you could hurt their beds. Some salons won't even let you use other brands and thats because they might also hurt you. Better to listent to the employee at the salon.
    I like lite skin.

What is the protocol for tipping a hairstylist when they are independent and rent a chair in a salon?

the same as any stylist. the higher the service the more you give . in an average lower priced salon between 3 - 6 on average. What is the protocol for tipping a hairstylist when they are independent and rent a chair in a salon?
15-20 percentWhat is the protocol for tipping a hairstylist when they are independent and rent a chair in a salon?
there is no protocol...you tip them as you would someone that was on commission or someone in a resturant atmosphere....if they deserve the tip first of all.....i'm an independent nail tech and skin care specialist and my clients usually tip me anywhere from 5 to 10 bucks...i have yet to receive anything lower than 5....if you're good you're good....but dont let the fact that they are ';self employed'; sway your decision about tipping or how much to tip....point blank period if they made you look good, feel good, explained what was going on within that service, explained what products you need to use at home and made you feel better than when you came in...then tip them!!!

Eyes open or closed while getting shampooed at the salon?

Is it awkward to close your eyes like you're really enjoying it? lol.Eyes open or closed while getting shampooed at the salon?
Closed. Keeps water %26amp; product out of eyes %26amp; makes the stylist more comfortable than being stared at from a odd position especially if it's a guy staring at your boobs.Eyes open or closed while getting shampooed at the salon?
you can close your eyes to show you are relaxed during a peaceful salon treatment. sometimes i do because i don't want to get watery shampoo suds in my eyes! lol. it is not so much awkward, it may be a little strange when you close you eyes for the first time while getting washed, but you'll get used to the feeling if you decide to go on and try closing your eyes. when i got my braces on i found it easier to close my eyes, it was a little strange, but as i said before you get used to everything over time.

    best wishes,

    dude is awesome
mind as well shut them. there is no consequence to shutting them, tightly even just so you know not to get any in your eyes. besides, your suppppppose to enjoy a salon.
haha i keep mine closed, because if theyre open they end up tearing because ill get soap in them or something. it doesnt matter, i doubt your hairstylist will care if your eyes are open or closed lol.
yeah i was wondering about that too ...i keep mine open but i stare at something away from the hair stylist i never closed my eyes when i was getting my hair washed ..it feels uncomfortable =]
Everyone enjoys it, so its not awkward. Unless you want your eyes to burn if you get soap in them, or just stare at the hair stylist .. then keep them open, but its not awkward when their closed.
Open, but I close them if she gets the shampoo too close to my eyes (Btw at my hairdressers they stand behind you)

    :)
I think it's more awkward when you're eyes are open and just staring at her.
    usually closed it's more comfortable
I keep mine closed, otherwise you're just looking at the shampoo girl's boobs.
    closed
    i always close mine. lol.
    closeddddd

    xxx
Closed... you might get a splash of shampoo in them anyway
    I keep mine closed....
    I close my eyes!
I close my eyes all the time, and I am enjoying it!!

Has anyone ever brought in a picture to the salon of what they want their eyebrows to look like?

I want to bring a picture but im not sure if thats weirdHas anyone ever brought in a picture to the salon of what they want their eyebrows to look like?
    yeah thats fine

it's the best way to make sure she shapes them correctlyHas anyone ever brought in a picture to the salon of what they want their eyebrows to look like?
I've never done that for my eyebrows (I usually don't get them done at a salon), but I do for how I generally want my hair done. It's not wierd at all.
No thats not weird. It will actually help sometimes, so both of you are clear on what you want.
    Of course!

What is the difference between store bought shampoo and salon bought?

and out of both categories, which is the best brand? What is the difference between store bought shampoo and salon bought?
    The purchase location.....

Give me 10 points for speed and accuracy? What is the difference between store bought shampoo and salon bought?
The quality of it. Also with a salon you can get help finding which kind is the best for your hair. I have fine hair and not all shampoos (even by the same maker) will work right for my hair. Plus you use less than the store bought. Salon shampoo only takes about the size of a nickle. It is not a high sudsing shampoo, but lots of suds are not needed and do not mean it is working. High suds of store bought shampoos are for looks. Cause people think if they don't see lots of suds, it isn't working.
store stuff is mass produced so they use cheap ingredients and fillers with water.

professional stuff is not mass produced because they don't need to mass produce. they can't. they use better ingredients that can go 'bad' (rancid).

store stuff has lots of waxes to build up on the scalp and then the hair can't grow out of it. hence, baldness or thinning hair.

can't go wrong with professional stuff ( it's also guaranteed if sold at a salon ) unless you don't use it and it goes 'bad'. then what was the use in buying it in the first place? i mean if you weren't going to use it, why waste the money?

depends on the texture of hair as to what i would professionally recommend.
Salon bought hair products are SO much better for your hair. I usually use Biolage hair products. If I have to buy hair products that aren't from a salon, I usually get Pantene. Don't get anything really cheap; I used some cheap shampoo a while ago and it DAMAGED my hair.
the salon hair products r sooooo expensive! but they do work extremley well on hair..and u can pick a shamposs and other stuff to help ur particualr hair..but the best shampoo and stuff u can buy that is at salons and the store is tresemme.. it is so great..here is a picture incase u wanna check it out..

    http://www.cosmeticmall.com/images/produ鈥?/a> good luck!=)
I would say that Salon bought are the best as they are exclusive to the profdessionals in the salon and therefore better than the ones shopbought. However, unless you have problems with your hair, e.g. very dry, brittle, very greasy, damaged etc, then I'd just go for shopbought. Otherwise you're spending money on something you don't need.

Salon stuff tends to be a lot more expensive as the salon takes a cut of the money after sale. You could try looking on ebay or somehwere like that for salon professional stuff for a cheaper price.
sometimes there better sometimes there just expensive. Use creme of nature. its $5 dollars a bottle. and its not like those $20 dollar bottles of shampoo the salon sells. That only has a teaspoon in it. or just go to a beauty supply store and ask for suggestions. I'm telling u from experience salon shampoo is pretty much always a rip off.
Shampoo from a salon is so much better for your hair..gives you amazing results..!!

Why would your waiter get more of a tip than your hair stylist? You are putting your hair in their hands. I think maybe your over tipping your waiter, not the stylist.

depends if you live in the middle of nowhere that you dont have that many options to go to it will come out pricy no matter what but if you live in a larger city from 55 to 100
It really depends if you want it done or not if you do go for it if you dont than dont go for it.

    Good luck!
For one color, it's anywhere from $60-$75

For highlights it about $90-125, depending on how crazy you get hehe.

    Hope I helped =)
if you want it cheao and nice go to a salon school were students kinda practice on your hair. it comes out nice though
Yes that sounds right. I usually weave to colors in my hair and get a trim. Cost about $125.
Where I work, for highlights just thru the parting area will cost 拢32, Half head is 拢57 and the full head is 拢87. For a semi permanent colour it would cost 拢25 and permanent 拢30. Or go to salons on model days if you feel brave where you can get it done for 拢15+.

Personally, I close my eyes. It prevents me from going wide-eyed when the girl steps in front of me and getting a eyeful of shampoo. I don't mind a close eyeful of cleavage, but an eyeful of shampoo is not worth it. Besides, there is always time to sneak a peek when she is toweling me dry.
As a stylist most people close them and enjoy the shampoo I give them. But do what you find relaxing and comfortable. Being at a salon is about you and only you!
usually keep them open because it can be embarrassing otherwise

  • Has anyone had their hair dyed at any Jean Louis David salon in NYC?

I found a Jean Louis David salon near my job recently. I've been trying to find a RELIABLE BUT REASONABLY PRICED hair salon that I can get my hair professionally dyed at.

Unfortunately, after doing some research, I found that this salon received mostly negative reviews from past customers. However, most of them went for haircuts NOT to get their hair dyed.

If you have been to any of these salons in New York City in the past, I would love to hear your review.

Thanks in advance!Has anyone had their hair dyed at any Jean Louis David salon in NYC?
I can't afford to live in NYC. However, as for having your hair professionally dyed, it is much cheaper (and easy) to do it yourself. Purchase your products at a place like Sally Beauty Supply (perhaps there is one near you) and not at a grocery store or Wal Mart. A beauty supply store will have better quality products. Get the dye, a mixing bottle, a bottle of developer (this will last since there is more than enough), and gloves. If you get any spots on your counter or floor, they come up with bleach. Put an old towel around your shoulders and then use it to dry your hair after you wash out the dye.

I've been recently been looking into this because I love doing all my friends hair crazy and was thinking about cosmetology school. I've also been making patterned extensions for myself and was thinking maybe I'll take it to the next level and start making them and selling them. I was thinking of making some kind of arty wigs, but I want to look at more hairstyles and salons to see more about this.

How do i remove artificial nails w/out going back to salon.?

Get nail polish removerHow do i remove artificial nails w/out going back to salon.?
You more then likely have Gel nails which has to be filed off. Acrylic can be soaked off w/ acetone or filed down.

Use a very course nail file so it goes faster but when you get closer to the natural nail, switch to a more fine file. Avoid the urge to break them off as this will take quite a few layers off of your natural nail and make them extremely thin (and ugly), Plus it can really hurt because your pulling up on the nail bed which is full of nerves and blood vesles . BE VERY CAREFUL not to file too far down as this can also remove layers of your natural nail. Thin nails can be painful - ESPECIALLY if you go back to get the nails back on....the UV light will burn like CrAzY. PLUS it takes months for the nail to grow out!

Best bet is to file CARFULLY - a tedious task. Be careful about friction too......it can get hot.

Acrylic can be soaked off w/ acetone - pure acetone is sold at professional outlets - in this case you will also need a special dish to soak them in too. Some nail polishes do have Acetone in them but not enough to do much. Mostly if will just make the top layer soft but won't penetrate through the entire fake nail.

Oh - and go very very slow if you use a powered file VERY careful. You can buy them at walmart and such but I'd say stick with the nail file. Much safer for your first time on trying this

It not that great of idea to let them grow out because a) then usually won't last %26amp; stay in good condition and B) you risk getting stuff undernieth and the nail can get fungus etc

Good luck - and after you get them off, treat yourself to a good manicure w/ some sort of polish for your nails

oh - and if you don't know which you have - gel would have been a ';gel'; when applied and it's shiny; Acrylic she would have dipped her brush into a liquid first then a powder to make a paste and this type of nail takes some buffing to get it shiny. Acrylics not too popular anymore. too much dust from all the filing tooHow do i remove artificial nails w/out going back to salon.?
Buy some acetone ....its a polish remover usually sold right next to regular polish remover. You basically have to allow your nails to soak in the liquid for ten minutes or more to remove them ...Good Luck.
all you have to do, is bite on them. like the sides of the nail. just keep doing it, and they will eventually fall off. thats what i did and mine came off. And they didnt ruin my nails underneath.
    Acetone

You can buy straight acetone or just buy nail polish remover with acetone and soak them for a long time. My would always come off when I did the dishes, so hot soapy water might help also.
I used to clip them of with nail clippers then pick them off with eye brow plucker s. Kinda hurts, but its faster than soaking lol
soak them in water or nail polish remover. do NOT force them off-ur nail underneath might peel with it or it'll leave a bad look to ur nail.
once i just ripped them off during school...it killled. soaking them in nail polish remover for 10 minutes helps soften it and it wont hurt as much to pull em off...
Well i always though finger nail polish remover or 100% Acetone would do it?
either soak them in nail polish remover or

in warm soapy water every day until they get loose!!
Cut them so that they are short then soak in nail polish remover.
soak them in nail polish remover for a while

    them wipe them off

    dont peel or pull
Just out under hot water and peel
at some stores like walmart they have nail removal stuff.
let your actual nails grow out

I have tried just about every kind you can get at your local walmart and target, and I want to try a good kind.

I wash my hair every other day, so I need a shampoo that isn't going to make my hair look greasy or oily. Price is not an issue. I will pay for a good quality shampoo!!

Bumble and Bumble products are great. Tigi products are another good choice. What is a good salon shampoo?
I would recommend Matrix Sleek Look or anything by Redken or TIGI. Good quality shampoos won't make your hair greasy, even in the ultra-moisturizing formulas. Just stay away from things that specify that they give volume - that can add grease and buildup.
I use Biolage and I think it's the best product I've ever used on my hair. Plus it smells great and it's not terribly expensive!

If you have COSTCO store near you, I really like the Kirkland Signature salon shampoo. It's fortified with marine algae and aloe Vera.

If that's not an option, check out the famous salons, or amazon.com because it has a better selection, or salon supply stores, the professional ones, for the Kerastasse product. I love the Masquintense especially because I do a lot of stuff to my hair, and it reconditions it really good.

Try the Sally's Beauty supply, and the clerks should be able to advise you really well, ... or if that isn't available in your area, find the next best thing, any beauty supply store should carry some of the good brands that really enhance your hair's condition..

  • What do you look for when chosing a full-service hair salon?

1st and foremost a stylist that maintains a high regular clientele. In chosing a new hairdresser, thats one thing to consider, as repeat business usually lets you know they have skills. 2- The ability to work with your hair type. 3- Start with something simple first, see how that goes, then try something more complexed, if she dont do the simple right, at least shes done no real harm. 4-Cleanliness of salon and stylist practices.5-Wait times, I hate to have an appointment at 1oclock, and be just getting in the chair at 1:30.6-Look at her/his hair. Im a stickler about this one, its a pet peeve I guess, but if the stylists hair looks a mess, its safe to assume yours will too. And ur hair will look really nice, it'll just take some weight off of ur head :) it really feels nice and light, I had really reallyy thick hair when i was younger and i always got it thinned out, now its still thick but not as thick as it used to :( but thats cuz i straighten my hair way too much so dont straighten ur hair too much okay? well, good luck!! :D hope it all goes well :)

  • Is is really worth the money to go to a salon to dye one's hair?

Or can you get the exact same results by just doing it yourself with store brought hair dye? IE clairol, l'oreal, etc.

Also which store brought hair dye brand is the best? I want to dye my hair like a rich dark brown. Is is really worth the money to go to a salon to dye one's hair?
I have done both there are pros and cons to either side, first, yes I dyed my hair PLENTY of time by myself, and it turned out great!!! But here's the problem one you're looking for a specific color result, and well the boxes give you a PRETTY good idea of what it MIGHT look like, (and sometimes they will even have a side picture that shows your shade and what the specific color is supposed to do to your hair... it's not always accurate). Some people's hair (like mine) tend to ';grab reds, which means even if I don't use a dye that looks red, if it has even a HINT of it my hair takes it, exaggerates it, and when it's started to fade out the red is all that's left (and without BLEACHING it, I cannot get rid of the red that lingers). I liked using a salon to do it because those girls do that EVERY day, they have a pretty god idea, with what shade of hair you have, and what results you want, what shade they need to use. Also if you are interested in depth (highlights/lowlights) they are more skilled at doing stuff like that, but if you're interested in just one ';flat'; color, there's nothing wrong with doing it yourself, as long as you're not the type of person to FREAK if it's not right (I mean not even close to right). Again I will say I did it myself for YEARS, but once I found a color I liked on me I STUCK with it like glue! I use (regardless of the color... because I have ';played'; with different colors on me) L'Oreal, preferrence I think... I use it because I like the way it makes my hair feel after I've colored it (not all dried out and damaged) it's been more than 3 year since I last dyed my hair (my husband said you know honey I don't know what your natural hair color is, and since I had been dying it since I was 13 I said, you know I don't remember myself!!! the only way to find out was to grow it out... my husband thought he married a redhead... guess what I'm BLOND). Anyway, if your nervous about doing it yourself ask a friend who has done it before to go with you, and maybe even supervise (if not DO the coloring for you), if you are truly nervous about it go to a salon, and have them do it for you (like I said this is a better choice if you are considering doing highlights, or something like that, I've TRIED doing those on myself and well it didn't turn out as well as I would have liked, the good thing was my hair doesn't dye well, which means I have to go for MAX time to get it to set in, and I didn't do my highlights at the max time so you could barely see them). Again there are pros and cons to both (the cons about going to a salon is the price, but I've always LOVED someone else washing my hair anyway, so I'll pay the price), just remember this, if you TRULY hate your hair after you've dyed it you can't take the box back to the store and expect your money back, but you as sure as hell can say you won't pay the salon if they botch it up!!!Is is really worth the money to go to a salon to dye one's hair?
Hello. First of all what is your natural color? You want to stay within 2-3 levels of your natural if you want to color at home. In a salon you are paying for skill. The stylist is trained so that there is less of a chance for error. You'll also get insight into the proper hair shaping and styling tips. At home its you and a box. If your hair is long forget it. Sectioning long hair yourself is a pain in the booty! Also, remember, longer hair requires more product! Its very messy, make sure you have TONS of towels, and a few wet wash clothes just in case the product drips. As far as nice rich color Garnier makes a good product. Good luck!
if you want nice color that lasts for more than a month without fading that's not brassy and won't fry your hair, go to the salon. Trust me it's cheaper in the long run!!!
If your dying your hair with all over color I definitely think you can do it just as well at home. Though if you want highlights or anything special I would invest the money in a hair stylist. They have the invaluable neccessity of experience. I do my mom's hair and we always buy L'oreal. I can't remember which one it is though. i know it isn't the least exspensive one. sorry, i can't remember. it does work well though
It is worth it, b/c if you aren't careful you could really have a mess on your hands,, and your hair could come out looking terrible.
l'oreal is the best hair dye brand
yes it is cuz if u dnt u mite f'up ur own hair
A good hair salon IF THEY'RE GOOD

They have access to more expensive and better products and they know how to use them.
Being a stylist I would say go to one. The products professionals use are far better and can sometimes make your hair come out in better condition than before you colored it. You need to get a consultation and go over the shade you want. She should look at your skin tone and eye color for that perfect shade. If she doesn't then go somewhere else and ask before if they charge for the consult. Some do and some don't. I don't.
i have tried both ways When i go to the salon i get the color i want... when done myself i get the color i dont want and never turns out like the one on the box worth paying the extra money i think unless your doing it the same color
Sometimes you can get salon results at home, but just in case you don't, it's always better to put your hair in the hands of a professional versus doing it yourself since you're dealing with chemicals. Professionals will know what to do if you don't achieve the hair color you're looking for or if you have a bad reaction to the hair product. The same can happen at home, but you would have to call some expertise 1-800 number on the back of the bus to get the information you need...and who knows how long that could take! Your best bet is to trust a professional.
Usr L'oreal the conditioner is excellent, and home dying results are great and any residue washes off, including from towels good luck and save money
Since you asked not any of the supermarket branded hair dyes will give you the best results. Though some of the other products you mentioned produce excellent results.

Though if in doubt.and you can afford it .. go to a good hairdresser for advice.
It is really and always worthy for the salon's owner dear.
If you go to an expensive salon then obviously it is expensive but then the colour lasts longer, if you go to a cheaper salon then it tends to last about a month
to me it is worth it
if you do it at home you run the risk of dying your hair orange - it can be done but do a test dye and call the number on the package for help
i thought that too. i tried to dye my hair a lighter shade of blonde as it was going abit dull with age and it came out ginger. it was never the same!

i now go regularly to the salon to have foils on and its so much more worth doing it that way.
if you have money to dye for
yes especially if you want it to look 'natural'. some home kits will give you a blanket colour and can actually look like a wig. plus a salon will gradually add the colour over time, so it will let you and your hair get used to it.
First timers may get lucky. Best to consul pro.
Definetly worth it. I also find it like a pamper day when I spend 3 hours in the hairdressers having my hair done. Plus colour lasts longer and you know it wont go wrong in any way!
Well, it depends on your hair type (some people's hair grabs color more than others), what color your hair is and what color you are going for. I have had hair-dye nightmares in the past because my hair has a lot of red undertones and I selected the wrong colors and came out with quite unfortunate results. If the hair color is close to your natural hair color (at least within 1-2 shades) you should be okay. But if you are going for a drastic change, definitely go to the hairdresser! I ended up having to go AFTER I tried the cheaper way of doing it! Good luck!!!!
Not really, you can do the job yourself at fraction of the cost.

  • I was at the salon when this girl was staring at me?

I normally get stares/glacnes but I know it's just people looking at me. This girl stared at me for like 10 or more seconds and we were both staring at each other. Was she inviting me to talk to her by staring at me that long?

Also please tell me if this is TRUE or FALSE: If a girl stares at you for like 3 seconds then she is just looking, if she stares at you for 10 seconds or more that is an invite?I was at the salon when this girl was staring at me?
You are thinking way more into this than you need to. Yeah there are differences between glances and stares but, if you want to go talk to her, talk to her. At least then you will know for sure instead of worrying your head on yahoo about it.

How much do highlights cost in the average salon?

30-40 In central IL but you can do them at home there are several new kits avaliable at local drugstores or even Walmart if you do it your self under 10.How much do highlights cost in the average salon?
$80.00How much do highlights cost in the average salon?
Depends on how long your hair is and how many you want? Longer hair is more expensive and runs (for foil) $60 TO $100+ sHORTER HAIR IS LESS OF COURSE AND THEN YOU HAVE THE CAP TYpE HIGHLIGHTS BUT i DON'T EVEN KNOW IF THEY STILL EVEN DO THAT?

    oops... Cap's lock sorry...
    it cost about 120 doallars
it usually depends on the salon and how long your hair is... but depending on the length of your hair it could cost somewhere between $30-$70 for an average
$60 - $100, depending on how long ur hair is
Cost: 40-100+, Depending on lenth of hair. If you long hair you could also get highlights half your hair top part instead of the entire hair. That will be cheap but still will look nice.
about 50-85 dollars it just depends on the color and how many you get.

How come salon beauticians won't BOTH dye and perm/wave hair?

They won't do both. It's either one or the other. Why?How come salon beauticians won't BOTH dye and perm/wave hair?
I guess so you your hair won't be more damagedHow come salon beauticians won't BOTH dye and perm/wave hair?
Because they both have really Strong chemicals in them, one being ammonia. If they were to attempt this, the color wouldn't come out right, mixed with the chemicals in the perm solution, and second you could have a good chance of your falling out all together!
so u cant sue them if ur hair breaks off...

is it called glazing? if not, what is it called? What is it called when you get a non permenant hair color put on in salon?
    I think so.

If you ask for a semi or demi permanent colour, they will understand. What is it called when you get a non permenant hair color put on in salon?
Permenant hair colour does not wash off, it has to grow out. So non permentant is a colour which gradually washes out over a short period of time.
    colored
    Erm, semi-permanent or non-permanent?
It used to be called a rinse.
Depends what is it that u get done. Semi permanent is a temporary one that washes of after like 8-10 hair washes.
Usually, Its Just Called Semi-Permanent Or Temporary Color But There Are Many Different Types/Products Out There. 'Glazing' Or A 'Color Gloss' Is A Color Technique ';Cellophanes'; Or ';Jazzing'; Are A 'Brand' Of Coloring Just Explain That You Don't Want ';Permanent'; Color And See What Options They Offer.

  • What is biggest complaint you have at a salon?

When going to a salon or stylist what urks you ? it could be anything..tell me what urks youWhat is biggest complaint you have at a salon?
The wait ... and forced conversation... too much perfume on the stylistWhat is biggest complaint you have at a salon?
I'm short. So when they wash my hair, the chairs kill my back and neck. I swear I can never get comfortable in those chairs.
the talk.... especially between 2 hairstylists over the top of your head
Thank you for this question. I hate when the front desk person is not nice. Not offering a client a drink, to me that is part of going to a salon being pampered. I also hate waiting a long time in between appointments. Gossip
i'm a hairstylist and hate the feeling of knowing the stylist isn't cutting straight or cutting too much off or not enough off. i love the feeling of the razor ripping thru my hair , but most stylists don't know HOW to use a razor correctly. i like the rip. not all hair can be ripped. most people's hair can't handle it, they need it literally cut with it or styled/shaped with it.

    i hate the germs.

i hate it when parents bring their sick kids in to get their hair done. i charge them double, take their name and address and tell them if i get sick they WILL be RESPONSIBLE for my doctors' BILL also. all prices are $$ and up. 'and up' means if i get sick you pay the bill and what i would have gotten paid for my days off for being sick.
when they don't listen to my how i want it cut. then they cut way too much off. i have a lot of problems with that...my hair is curly..and nobody knows how to cut it right.
When you are unhappy with the cut and ask them to fine tune it before you pay and leave. A professional will make sure you are pleased, an annoying stylist will tell you that you don't know how to cut hair or what style is. I'm paying for what I want regardless of what that is, not what the stylist wants.
I bet everyone says this, but they always cut my hair shorter in back. The weird thing is I have bangs and I practically have to force them to cut them. So, evidently most stylists want to shear off most of my hair but leave my bangs hanging over my eyes. Sigh. Just call me the sheepdog.
When they don't listen to the type of cut I want, if I tell them something doesn't work well (razors to cut my hair) I've had my hair on my head for 39 years, I KNOW my hair. I know how it hangs, how it falls, I don't like to use mousse or gel. I TELL them I don't use mousse or gel, then they put it in there. Then they try to sell it to me when I leave. Then it's really obvious they haven't listened.

No, to look after yourself is caring about yourself.

no not at all, I wish I had the time and money to go to a tanning salon, I love the way I look with a rich tan.

    No. Not at all.

Does Regis Salon generally style your hair after you get it cut?

I'm going to the mall tomorrow, and want to get my hair done too. But, I don't know if I should make my appointment for right when we get there, or towards when we'll leave. My hair doesn't dry well, so unless they style it and use lots of product, it will frizz and be totally embarassing.

Do they style it when they're done, or should I make my appointment for when we're done shopping so I don't look horrible going through the mall all day?

I have never used this salon before. I just moved here from California, and the closest salon like I used to go to (Premier Atelier) is two hours away. So, I decided to give Regis a chance.Does Regis Salon generally style your hair after you get it cut?
Unless you specify that you want a blowdry and style after you get your hair done (cut, color? You didn't say) they won't style it and you'll walk out with just a finger styling - that is, they will lightly blowdry, usually with product in it. Most stylists charge extra for a blowdry and style because you are paying for the extra time the stylist will take to style your hair.

Spend the extra money and get it styled - you'll be able to see what it looks like after it's ';done'; and you can copy it when you style your hair at home.

Also, I would always make an appointment instead of just walk in - you will be sure to have the attention of the stylist instead of having him or her rush through because someone else is walking in the door, or an appointment has arrived.

Eyes OPEN or CLOSED when getting SHAMPOOED at the hair salon?

Does your stylist put a towel around your neck or on the sink for comfort?Eyes OPEN or CLOSED when getting SHAMPOOED at the hair salon?
when i first worked at my salon i had to wash hair which i HATED but a lot of people kept their eyes open which kind of freaked me out. just sit back and relax it makes everyone feel better =)

I was at the salon when this girl was staring at me?

  • What's a good shampoo that's not from the salon?

I'm a 11 year old girl and I want healthy hair that looks good. I want names and I want a reason. I don't want hair loss ever and I want my hair to be silky, soft, and HEALTHY. I don't want salon products and I want something affordable. What's a good shampoo that's not from the salon?
I like Pantene. Herbal Essence is good too. What's a good shampoo that's not from the salon?
I know this is a long answer, but hear me out.

i have been using the same shampoo for over 12 years and it is really good to me. I have seen it in the shelves at the hair salons and I know you said you don't want hair salon products. But this one is actually really healthy for your hair. It is call biologe and there is different kinds for different hair type and I have long thick hair to that get dry and flaky sometimes so I have to use the one for course hair or dye oily hair. Biologe is really good for your hair because it actually keeps the hair and scalp healty, when alot of shampoos only coat the hair with a layer. Lots of shampoos don't really was your hair it only rinses it out and coats it with a layer of scum or something else that looks like your hair is cleaner or healthier. That is why a lot of people have to was thier hair a lot more. It is because they use product that only coat the hair it doesn't wash it. Me I can last about a week to 5 days until I wash my hair. Because it stays healthy and clean looking for that long.

Another shampoo is one that my sister started using and it is also one that is healthy for your hair and makes it look good and it is panteene. she uses it all the time and her hair looks GREAT.

    Herbal Essences

    Garnier Fructis

    Pantene

Those are the best, some help for dry hair to make it soft, others strengthen hair...look for ones that u want. there are also ones for long hair. remember to change your shampoo regularly as if u dont your hair will become immune to it and it will no longer work.

Herbal Essences. There are all kinds for differnt textures/styles.

Even though they offer tons, the actual shampoo doesn't differ to much (it's just a selling thing)

But I use Herbal Essences, I have for years, and I always get compliments on how healthy my hair is.

    Air brush tanning at salons?

Did anyone go? What were the results? Is it worth going to? How about streaks?Air brush tanning at salons?
I tan once a week to keep my color... I do NOT recommend it I have tried it so have coworkers it looks orangish not natural at all.Air brush tanning at salons?
I've been. I liked it alot. You leave it on as long as you can before showering and then when you shower all the excess/streaks wash away and you are left with an even tan. Very cool.
Its better than being in the sun.

Im all sunburned right now and its complete hell.

I'm red, very very itchy...it hurts, I cant sleep, and I'm peeling :(

    Next time I'll do a fake-bake :)
If you get a good salon the results are good.

    Does anyone love Dominican salons?

I do! Woohoo, going tomorrow morning!Does anyone love Dominican salons?
    I love Dominicans period!

I'm half black, half native american...and I get relaxers like every 8-10 months (ya know, for the silky look..I didn't wanna screw with the hot comb)....and I let Dominicans do it because to be honest, black people didn't know how to care for my hair...at all.

Dominicans rock....I have half dominican cousins!!!!Does anyone love Dominican salons?
I haven't been to one but would love to though. There are many around me as well...there's one on at least every 2-4 blocks lol [I live in NYC]. My sister did have 2 bad expriences at the salon though...at one salon, she asked for a trim and they actually cut her hair and at another, her hair smelled burnt afterwards. But I'd love to see it for myself anyway.
I did when I was married to my Dominican Ex-wife who worked in a Dominican salon.

Now I have no reason to go to one....................Oh well. :(
The technique that they use of putting the blow dryer so close to you hair is not good for it and it burns.
Those women gossip wayyyy to much!!
hmmm, never been to one. do they do a good job?
