Im a hair student doing an assignment on Seborrhoea and cant find any information about wether or not you can perform a service on a client with the condition, and what health regulations need to be followed? Can you perform a service on the client with seborrheic dermatitis (in a hair salon)?
I'm a cosmetologist. I want to say yes you can. Is it contagious? The general rule of thumb is that as long as it's not contagious you can work around it. Can you perform a service on the client with seborrheic dermatitis (in a hair salon)?
I have seborrheic dermatitis on my face if I don't shave often enough. I also get it a little around my hairline.
It's not contagious. It's related to the proper functioning of the sabaceous glands, the same glands responsible for acne. They control oil production.
It's basically just like a dry skin condition (to really oversimplify it). It's actually treatable with dandruff shampoos.
So, no need to be afraid of it anymore than you would if your client had dandruff.
