To answer your first question, no. Tanning Salons are not associated with prostitution, sex trade or illegal activity. My cousin owns a chain of them on the East Coast and he has had no problems whatsoever with any of the aboved mentioned areas.
To answer your second questions, yes. He started out with one 6 years and ago and now he owns 15. He does a background check on his prospective employees and subjects them to a random drug test. In fact, he got an award from one of the County Sheriff's Office, that he has a salon in, for turning in a known drug dealer. The dope was trying to get a job with him and still consented to a background check which brought up his previous arrest records.
Yeah, you do have some sleaze bags who go into this business just to promote illegal activities, but it's the good ones who get the rewards.
All the tanning salons I now are completely legit and clean businesses.
my tanning salon is run by my daughter's catechism teacher, i certainly hope there is nothing illegal going on there.
